This latest event is just one of many violent extremist actions linked to Iran in recent months.

Police believe Iran may be linked to the assassination attempt after Iran’s foreign ministry imposed sanctions on Alejo Vidal-Quadras because of his ties to the exiled Iranian opposition, the Mujahedin of the People of Iran.

Vidal-Quadras, 78, was shot in the face but miraculously survived the attempt on his life. The assassination attempt took place in the wealthy Salamanca district of Madrid last Thursday at approximately 1:30 p.m. He was rushed to a hospital where he is recovering. His condition was considered “stable and conscious”.

The shot to Vidal-Quadras’ face fractured his jaw but did not fatally injure him.

A confidential police source said Associated Press who had inside information about the assassination attempt investigation. Vidal-Quadras himself suggested that the gunmen who attacked him could have ties to Iran.

While police have no concrete evidence of Iran’s involvement in the attack, police are investigating the theory as one of several potential motives. It is being investigated as a “terrorist” incident, they said Politician.

“On Monday, Spanish media reported that National Court Judge Francisco de Jorge was investigating the incident as an ‘attempted assassination of a terrorist nature,'” the news wrote.

“The Spanish politician, who has been a staunch supporter of Iranian dissidents, told authorities he ‘has no other enemies,'” Politico reported.

In accordance with Fox News“Two men seen on a Yamaha motorcycle are believed to be linked to the attempted murder.”

“The man who shot Vidal-Quadras got off the black motorcycle and took out his weapon while his face was obscured by a helmet. The two men escaped with the vehicle after the attack,” the media said.

The area where the shooting took place has been cordoned off by the authorities. No suspects have been arrested in the attempted murder. As a result of the events, the remains of a burnt motorcycle were found outside the city.

“Vidal-Quadras is a former member of the right-wing Popular Party. He later split from the Popular Party after three decades with the group over a falling out with then-Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, founding the Vox Party. He left Vox in 2014,” Fox News noted.

Police and investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage for clues about who the gunmen are and where they went. They ask witnesses to come forward and interview them as well.

Spanish politicians, including Popular Party leader Alberto Núñez Feijoo and Vox leader Santiago Abascal, were shocked by the attack and, along with acting Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, called for a “thorough investigation and quick arrests”, as reported. Reuters.

Italy’s right-wing Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said in a statement that Vidal-Quadras was the victim of a “cowardly attack” and condemned “an act of unacceptable violence, perpetrated against a political representative of a important European nation”.

Shahin Gobadi, who is a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, issued a statement on Thursday saying that Vidal-Quadras had been a staunch supporter of the Iranian opposition movement for more than 25 years .
