During a chance encounter in midtown Manhattan, Stephanopoulos was caught on camera answering a question about Biden's political future. Asked if he thought Biden should resign, Stephanopoulos admitted, “I don't think he can serve another four years.”

After the video circulated, Stephanopoulos regretted his candid remarks, stating, “Today I answered a question from a passerby. I shouldn't have.” ABC News clarified that Stephanopoulos' comments were his personal opinion and did not reflect the network's position.
The interview with Biden, which got about 8.5 million viewers, failed to dispel concerns about Joe Biden's cognitive abilities. Despite attributing his debate struggles to jet lag and a cold, Biden refuses to undergo a cognitive test to back up his claims of mental acuity.
