House GOP Issues First Subpoenas To Merrick Garland And Christopher Wray

The House of Representatives has issued its first subpoenas to Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray as part of an investigation into the politicization of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI under the Trump Administration. The subpoenas were issued by the House Judiciary Committee, which is chaired by Representative Jerrold Nadler (D-NY).

The subpoenas are part of the committee’s ongoing investigation into the alleged politicization of the DOJ and FBI that occurred during the Trump Administration. The investigation seeks to determine whether any laws were broken in the process of the Trump Administration’s alleged attempts to influence the DOJ and FBI.

The committee has requested documents from both Garland and Wray that relate to the investigation. The documents requested include any records related to the firing of former FBI Director James Comey, the hiring of former acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker, and the investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

The committee has also requested documents related to the Trump Administration’s decision to drop charges against Flynn, as well as documents related to the Trump Administration’s efforts to obtain dirt on the Biden family from Ukraine.

The subpoenas come at a time when the DOJ and FBI are already facing scrutiny over their handling of the investigation into the Trump campaign’s alleged ties to Russia. The DOJ and FBI have been accused of mishandling the investigation, and the House Judiciary Committee is now seeking to determine whether any laws were broken in the process.

The subpoenas are the latest in a series of actions taken by the House Judiciary Committee in recent weeks. The committee has also issued subpoenas to former Trump Administration officials, including former Attorney General Jeff Sessions and former White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.

The committee has also requested documents from former White House Counsel Don McGahn and former White House Communications Director Hope Hicks. The committee is seeking to determine whether the Trump Administration attempted to obstruct justice in the Russia investigation.

The House Judiciary Committee is expected to continue its investigation into the alleged politicization of the DOJ and FBI under the Trump Administration. It is unclear how long the investigation will take, but the committee is expected to issue more subpoenas in the coming weeks.

It is also unclear how Garland and Wray will respond to the subpoenas. Garland has already indicated that he is willing to cooperate with the committee, while Wray has yet to comment on the matter.

The investigation into the alleged politicization of the DOJ and FBI under the Trump Administration is sure to be a contentious one. It will likely be a long and drawn out process, but the House Judiciary Committee is determined to get to the bottom of the matter and ensure that justice is served.
