In war-torn Ukraine, the eastern Kharkiv region is taking extraordinary measures to ensure children can safely return to face-to-face studies. Faced with the constant threat of Russian airstrikes, officials have begun building heavily fortified underground schools.
These schools, each with a capacity of 500 people, are designed to withstand direct impacts and will be equipped with everything necessary for the learning process, including fully functional ventilation, plumbing and heating systems.
