Fans are Outraged After Beloved Children’s Cartoon Features Pride Clip: ‘Why Is This a Kid’s Show?’

Fans of the long-running children’s cartoon, “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic,” were in for a surprise when the show’s ninth and final season featured a brief clip of a same-sex female couple during the episode “The Last Crusade.”

While many fans were pleased to see representation for the LGBTQ+ community in the show, others were outraged and took to social media to express their disappointment and frustration.

One Twitter user wrote, “I watch this with my 5-year-old daughter. Why is this a kid’s show now? Keep your LGBT propaganda out of it.”

Another user tweeted, “It’s disgusting that they’re pushing this agenda on our children. The creators of this show should be ashamed.”

The backlash even led to the creation of a Change.org petition demanding that the scene be removed from the episode. The petition stated that “My Little Pony” was “supposed to be a wholesome show for children,” and that the inclusion of the same-sex couple “will confuse and mislead young children.”

However, many fans of the show came to its defense, pointing out that the series has always promoted acceptance and friendship, regardless of differences in race, gender, or sexual orientation.

One fan wrote on Twitter, “The show has always been about love and acceptance. This scene is no different and is a beautiful representation of the LGBTQ+ community.”

Another user tweeted, “As someone who grew up watching ‘My Little Pony,’ I’m glad that younger generations get to see a world where everyone is accepted for who they are.”

The show’s creators have not yet responded to the backlash, but it’s clear that the inclusion of the same-sex couple has sparked a heated debate among fans of “My Little Pony.” While some are outraged by the scene, others are embracing it as a step forward for representation in children’s media.
