Fans of the long-running children’s cartoon, “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic,” were in for a surprise when the show’s ninth and final season featured a brief clip of a same-sex female couple during the episode “The Last Crusade.”
While many fans were pleased to see representation for the LGBTQ+ community in the show, others were outraged and took to social media to express their disappointment and frustration.
One Twitter user wrote, “I watch this with my 5-year-old daughter. Why is this a kid’s show now? Keep your LGBT propaganda out of it.”

The backlash even led to the creation of a Change.org petition demanding that the scene be removed from the episode. The petition stated that “My Little Pony” was “supposed to be a wholesome show for children,” and that the inclusion of the same-sex couple “will confuse and mislead young children.”
However, many fans of the show came to its defense, pointing out that the series has always promoted acceptance and friendship, regardless of differences in race, gender, or sexual orientation.
