Renowned rapper and Hollywood actor Ice Cube, also known as O’Shea Jackson, has once again drawn attention with his bold statement urging black Americans to reconsider their allegiance to the Democratic Party.
Ice Cube recently appeared on the Full Send Podcast, hosted by Kyle Forgeard and Steiny Steinberg.
Her advocacy for change within the black community has garnered recognition as she works to bridge the gap between politicians and grassroots movements. One of his prominent projects is the policy proposal document titled “Contract with Black America.”
In 2020, Ice Cube faced criticism for collaborating with then-President Trump on his plan for black Americans.
Defending his association with Trump, Ice Cube tweeted: “Every side is the dark side to us here in America. They’re all the same until something changes for us. They all lie and they all cheat, but no we can afford not to negotiate with whoever is in power or our status in this country will never change. Our justice system is bipartisan.”
During the Full Send Podcast interview, Kyle Forgeard asked Ice Cube about the backlash he faced as a Hollywood star for his association with Trump.
“I mean, I never supported Trump or Biden,” Ice Cube responded. “I never asked to speak to Republicans or Democrats.”
He further explained, “I created a document called ‘Contract with Black America,’ which addressed several issues that we believed were the cause of the unrest following the killing of George Floyd. I published the document, and both Republican as Democrats wanted to talk to me. I talked to both sides about the contract.”
According to Ice Cube, Republicans showed interest in implementing some provisions of the contract, while Democrats ignored it until after the election.
“The Republicans asked if they could implement some things from the Contract into their proposal. I stated that the document was open for anyone to use in any way they wanted. If they wanted to use it for educational purposes, they could. If they wanted to add to it more ideas or paragraphs, they could. If they wanted to use it to cause legislative change, they could. So I didn’t mind them using it. I also met with the Democrats, who said they liked the 90 % of what was inside and that they would discuss it with me after the election.”
During the Full Send Podcast interview, Ice Cube emphasized the need for tangible results and urged fellow black Americans to reconsider their political allegiances.
“There seems to be a stigma in the African-American community about the Republicans and similar parties. I don’t know what’s going on in the African-American community when it comes to that. Black people have overwhelmingly supported the Democrats for 50, 60 years. , and yet nothing has changed. So something has to change.”
