The White House won’t let a little thing like federal agencies concluding the coronavirus “probably” originated in the Wuhan lab get in the way of its political narrative.
On Sunday, an explosive story in the Wall Street Journal reported that “the Covid pandemic likely arose from a lab leak, according to a newly classified intelligence report provided to the White House and key members of Congress.”
The report adds that the new intelligence is “important because the agency has considerable scientific expertise and oversees a network of US national laboratories, some of which conduct advanced biological research.”
The Energy Department issued the conclusion with “low confidence,” according to people who have read the classified report. The FBI had concluded in 2021 that it had “moderate confidence” that the pandemic was likely the result of a laboratory leak and still maintains that position.
But the White House supports the Chinese Communist Party’s narrative that no one should see reports of lab leaks as a reason to blame China. I will see:
“Now there’s a new twist from the Chinese government,” Fox News’ Peter Doocy reported. “It reads like this; Some parties should stop repeating the lab leak narrative, stop smearing China, and stop politicizing tracebacks.”
“On Capitol Hill, House Republicans say they see this Energy Department conclusion, though it is considered a ‘low confidence’ one, as confirmation of long-held beliefs, including Republican Congressman Michael McCaul, which says: “now is the time. for the entire Biden administration to join the Department of Energy, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the majority of Americans in publicly concluding what common sense told us at the beginning, the Covid-19 pandemic or originated from a laboratory leak in Wuhan, China. “.
“The other theory involved a wet market in Wuhan and someone eating a bat that was sick and causing natural transmission,” Doocy continued. “But the lab leaks theory seems to make more sense to D.C. Democrats”
“I mean, look, I’m not totally surprised. The Chinese have mishandled Covid every step of the way, trying to sweep it under the rug, trying to try a Zero Covid strategy that completely failed,” said the representative Seth Moulton (D-MA).
“So on the Hill, some Democrats are saying they’re not surprised,” Doocy added. “But here at the White House, officials have said from the beginning, leaking the lab should not be a default.”
“President Biden hasn’t said anything about it yet,” he continued. “He’s on the air right now, coming back from a weekend in Delaware. If he talks about it, we should have that video later.”
The Senate GOP in October called the lab leak theory the “most likely” scenario for the origins of Covid. The report from the office of Senator Richard Burr (RN.C.) concluded that the SARS-CoV-2 virus was “likely the result of a research-related incident” at the Wuhan laboratory in China.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is calling on the Biden administration to declassify classified documents that show Department of Energy scientists believe Covid-19 leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology lab in the china
“Classified documents leaked (must be declassified!) showing DOE scientists believe COVID leaked from Wuhan Lab,” Paul tweeted on Monday.
