Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will reportedly meet X owner and Tesla CEO Elon Musk next week as Israel looks to develop its tech sector and Musk faces controversy over anti-Semitism in X.
According to the Washington Post, Musk’s Jewish friends and allies and X executives have arranged the meeting to ease tensions following the billionaire’s belligerent exchange with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). Netanyahu’s office confirmed the meeting to Reuters but did not provide further details. Musk said their talks would focus on artificial intelligence technology.
The meeting planned for Monday comes after Musk threatened to sue the ADL, alleging that the human rights organization falsely accused him and X’s platform of spreading anti-Semitism.
“To clear our platform’s name on anti-Semitism, it seems we have no choice but to file a defamation lawsuit against the Anti-Defamation League…oh, the irony!” Musk posted on X on September 4. He has since published several publications critical of the ADL and claimed that the organization’s pressure on advertisers to boycott X has led to a 60% decline in advertising revenue for X Corp., a figure that analysts at the industry have discussed. .
