Elon Musk said he will travel to Mark Zuckerberg’s home Monday night to battle the Meta CEO in an unscheduled bout. And while it’s unclear if Musk is completely serious, it wouldn’t be the first time Musk has threatened to fight Zuckerberg at home.
“For the Tesla FSD test drive in Palo Alto tonight, I’ll ask the car to drive to @finkd’s house,” Musk tweeted Monday, using an acronym for Tesla’s “full self-driving” and tagging Zuckerberg in the tweet.
“We’ll also try the latest live X video, so you can monitor our adventure in real time! If we’re lucky and Zuck my [tongue emoji] actually open the door, the fight is on!” Musk continued.
It’s unclear what Musk means by the tongue emoji, though the billionaire has used it before to refer to Zuckerberg.
Musk was the first to suggest a physical fight between the tech billionaires come back in June. Musk was upset about Zuckerberg’s launch of a Twitter competitor called Threads and Meta’s marketing of the social media platform as a “healthy” alternative to the chaos of Twitter. Musk bought Twitter in October 2022 and made a series of highly controversial changes that have seen ad revenue decline.
While Musk has been the one to consistently talk a big game on social media, Zuckerberg often reports that Musk seems to be making excuses about why he can’t fight. As an example only, Musk has said that it may require shoulder surgerywhich makes the situation even more confusing if he really wants to fight on Monday night.
“I think we can all agree that Elon is not serious and it’s time to move on. I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make it a legitimate competition for charity. Elon won’t confirm one date, then says he needs surgery and now asks to do a practice round in the backyard,” Zuckerberg told Threads. the weekend.
“If Elon is serious about an actual date and an official event, he knows how to contact me. Otherwise, it’s time to move on. I’ll focus on competing with people who are serious about the sport,” he continued Zuckerberg.
Zuckerberg, who is more than a decade younger than Musk, has been training all year to fight and reportedly set up an octagon in his backyard. Musk has tweeted about his own workout, which apparently involved lifting weights in the office.
Musk has previously said he had spoken to government officials in Italy about the charity fight, although Zuckerberg says he has not agreed to anything about it. news reports from Italy It also suggests that Musk’s promise to take place in Rome has not been finalized with the government.
Twitter, now officially known as X, did not immediately respond to emailed questions Monday afternoon. I will update this article if I get a response.
Update, 3:37 p.m. ET: Alex Heath, a reporter for tech news outlet The Verge, received a statement from a spokesperson that Zuckerberg isn’t even at his home in Palo Alto today.
