A drunken man armed with a shotgun entered an Oregon bar around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, but patrons quickly disarmed the gunman, authorities said.
According to police, a drunken man with a shotgun entered the Skyland Pub in Troutdale, Oregon. Quick-thinking bar patrons identified the gunman as a potential threat. Two customers at the Skyland Pub confronted the visibly intoxicated man.
Patrons at the bar grabbed the man’s shotgun and smashed him in the face with their own gun, according to Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office deputies. Other traders then helped tackle the alleged drunk, while others fled the drinking establishment. The man remained a prisoner until the police arrived at the scene. Police recovered the shotgun from the Skyland pub.
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office arrested 39-year-old Arturo Michel-Apolinar. Deputies said they didn’t know if Michel-Apolinar had violent intentions, but they did note he was noticeably intoxicated.
He was charged with threatening and unlawful use of a weapon, Fox 8 News reported. Michel-Apolinar was released from jail Friday, according to court records.
Authorities said none of the customers were injured in the demolition and only the man with the shotgun was injured. He was taken to a local hospital.
