Deputy Steube reveals injuries after fall

Republican Rep. Greg Steube of Florida, who was injured last week when he fell about 25 feet, has revealed that he is recovering from injuries that include a fractured pelvis, a punctured lung and torn ligaments.

“I am blessed to have a great support team in my wife Jennifer, as well as numerous friends and family, including the Steube puppies!” a Monday tweet on the lawmaker’s @RepGregSteube Twitter account. “Grateful for everyone’s prayers and well wishes as I recover from a fractured pelvis, punctured lung and several torn ligaments in my neck.”

The fall occurred Wednesday when Steube “was struck approximately 25 feet from a ladder while cutting branches from a tree on his Sarasota property,” according to a tweet last week. The lawmaker was released from the hospital on Saturday, according to another tweet.

“Although I will be sidelined in Sarasota for several weeks, I will carry out as much of my work in Congress as possible, and our DC and District staff will continue to be available to assist Floridians in FL-17,” he noted. Steube in a tweet on Monday. “I look forward to meeting my colleagues in Washington as soon as possible!” Another post has been added.

According to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, Steube will serve on the Select Subcommittee on Armaments of the Federal Government.

“So proud of my friend and teammate for his courage to get through this,” tweeted Republican Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania.

Steube has served in the United States House of Representatives since 2019.
