Tractor maker John Deere has announced it will stop sponsoring Pride events while scrapping some of its so-called diversity, equity and inclusion policies following a backlash from Tories.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, July 16, John Deere announced which would commit to a series of commitments “based on ongoing discussions”.
“We will no longer participate in or support any external social or cultural awareness parades, festivals or events,” the company announced on social media.

In addition, the company pledged to focus enterprise resource groups on “professional development, networking, mentoring and support for talent acquisition efforts,” while training materials will be audited to ensure – they do not contain “messages of social motivation”. Finally, John Deere reaffirmed “within the business that the existence of diversity quotas and pronoun identification have never been and are not company policy.”
