UFC legend Conor McGregor hit out at Irish police chief Drew Harris on Thursday after riots broke out across Dublin following a stabbing incident in which three children, a man and a woman, were injured.
Police have arrested a man in his 50s who they believe is responsible for the attack. Reports on social media indicated the man was Algerian, but this has not been confirmed by Gardai, as Irish police are known.
Dublin Police Chief Drew Harris blamed the riots on a “hooligan faction driven by far-right ideology”. However, Harris seemed much less willing to list an ideology or motive for the attack.
“I will not speculate further on a terrorist motive,” Harris said. “Until we’re sure what the reason is, we have to keep an open mind about why this happened.”
Irish UFC legend Conor McGregor appeared to have already made up his mind about the incident.
“Innocent children mercilessly stabbed by a mentally deranged foreigner today in Dublin, Ireland. Our police chief had this to say about the riots that followed. Drew, not good enough. There is grave danger among us in Ireland that it should never have been here in the first place, and no action has been taken to support the public in any way, shape or form with this appalling fact. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Make a change or make way. Ireland for the win that God bless those attacked today, we pray.”

“Police said it appeared the man attacked a number of people in Dublin’s Parnell Square shortly after 1330 GMT,” Reuters. reports. “Members of the public intervened at an early stage of the attack.
“A woman in her 30s was also being treated for serious injuries, while the other two children, a five-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl, suffered less serious injuries. The boy has been released from the hospital.
“There was complete and utter pandemonium, women crying, men screaming and crying,” Anthony Boyle, 31, an IT consultant who lives down the road and was passing by, told Reuters.
