At this point, how conservatives purge the RINOs is less important than making sure they go away, even if that means they go out on their own. And that’s exactly what’s happening: Another RINO goes off into the sunset. This time, it’s Ken Buck of Colorado who believes 2020 was the fairest election ever, despite his earlier move to join 125 other Republicans in an amicus brief challenging the election results. election, a writ that the Supreme Court dismissed, citing Texas’ lack of standing. challenge the result in another state. It seems it was all a show, and Ken knew it. After all, he was one of those who voted to certify the results of the 2020 election, not aligning himself with the 147 House Republicans who opposed it. Well, now Ken has decided to pack up and leave what he considers the “insidious” Republican Party.
Well done to Ken Buck, a man who represented his own interests, not the good people of Colorado’s Fourth District.
U.S. Rep. Ken Buck, a conservative Republican who represents much of Colorado’s rural eastern plains, announced Wednesday that he would not seek a sixth term in Congress, citing many in his party who refuse to accept the election results. presidential elections of 2020 and to condemn the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.
In a video message posted online, Buck said voters’ hopes that Republicans would take decisive action may be misplaced and that his party’s “insidious narratives” are fueling widespread cynicism and eroding Americans’ trust in the rule of law.
“Too many Republican leaders are lying to America, claiming that the 2020 election was stolen, describing Jan. 6 as an unguided tour of the Capitol, and claiming that subsequent prosecutions are a weaponization of our justice system,” Buck said.
The 64-year-old former prosecutor, who has served in Congress since 2015, was one of eight Republicans who joined with Democrats to impeach House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in early October. Buck eventually threw his support behind Representative Mike Johnson of Louisiana for speaker, despite Johnson’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election through a legal challenge.
Additionally, Buck won no MAGA supporters when he launched regime-sanctioned attacks on political prisoners on January 6.
In a 4-page letter, Buck eviscerated the unhelpful claims made by El Paso County Republican Party Vice Chairman Todd Watkins that the Jan. 6 defendants have been abused and mistreated by our legal system. Watkins’ letter refers to America as a “despotic, tyrannical banana republic.” Buck’s detailed point-by-point response correctly notes that Watkins’ letter “makes a series of factually incorrect assertions, and then proceeds to exaggerate the threat to our Republic based on those false assertions.”
Ken’s eventual downfall picked up speed when he refused to support an impeachment of Biden, citing a lack of “evidence,” despite a mountain of evidence that makes Mount Everest look tiny. That was the final straw, prompting a concerted effort to find a candidate who could beat Buck in a primary.
Ken Buck realized he was cornered and instead of sticking around, he did what RINOs do best: he retired. Ultimately, this turn of events works in our favor. Now, our next task is to make sure that his seat does not fall to another stooge in the establishment.
