We live in strange times. The new Amazon Holiday catalog is here. No mention of which holiday, although an unlabeled Christmas tree appears on page 16 and the word Christmas does appear on page 27, with no idea what it means.
This year, the company outdid itself on racism, besting all past attempts at demographic alteration championed by a “woke” advertising industry. In all sixty-five pages of the catalog, whites appear only on six. The first whites are seen on pages 13-16 and then not again until a small boy in a cowboy outfit looks on page 48 and a teenage girl with two black classmates on page 54. No whites on the inside cover and the first two pages are Oriental and perhaps a representative of the subcontinent. The center sheet is four black cheerleaders from the black Xavier University. At first glance, a viewer might think they are watching a special section ebony or Jet or Young Africa So overwhelming is the black presence that one would think Africa was the main market.
But that is not the reality. Amazon’s average customer is white, and blacks make up only one-tenth of the customer base and thirteen percent of the population. The trend in advertising is such, however, that it is not only in the commercial world that whites are banished to Outer Thule. A Martian looking at footage from this year’s AUSA (Association of the US Army) convention would think the US military was mostly black, not 53% white with whites dominating combat arms. GEICO, USAA, even the drug companies with their unpronounceable drugs have wiped out the white family. State Farm Insurance’s “Jake” has been magically transformed from white to black, a flipside of black comedian Godfrey Cambridge’s satire “Watermelon Man.”
Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man portrayed the labors of the invisible black man in white society. Today, the white man is invisible in a white society dominated by a white ruling and commercial elite that hates him, his children, his history. Like Jews under Hitler, whites for the radical left are guilty of the crime of existence, guilty because they exist, guilty of all the works of the universe. The elite is myopic: it is the white man who is the biggest buyer of the goods they sell. To an “awakened” elite that doesn’t matter. However, they should remember the example of “transgender” Dylan Mulvaney and what happened to Bud Lite sales when Anheuser-Busch antagonized its customer base by displaying the fake woman for a fake beer.
