Secretary of State Antony Blinken visibly cringed when President Biden referred to Chinese President Xi Jinping as a “dictator” after meeting with the communist despot.
“Do you still refer to President Xi as a dictator?” asked a reporter.
“Well, look, he is,” Biden said in response to a question: “He’s a dictator in the sense that he’s a man running a country that’s a communist country that’s based on a totally different form of government to ours”.
Looking very uncomfortable and disgusted, Blinken just shook his head when Biden made the comment during questions from the press on Wednesday. In one fell swoop, many claimed Biden it blew months of intense diplomacy between the US and China.

Blinken, 61, physically recoiled and appeared to shake his head and fidget with his hands as Biden said Xi “is a dictator in the sense that he is the man who runs the country that is a communitarian country… based on a form of government.” different from ours in a solo press conference,” the New York Post reported
“The insensitive comment came shortly after Biden, 80, met with Xi for four hours in San Francisco ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) conference, marking the first face-to-face meeting of the two leaders in one year.” added the news.
Former Italian diplomat Marco Carnelos addressed X, slamming the president’s joke while noting Blinken’s obvious discomfort and embarrassment.
“Secretary Blinken @ABlinken’s desperate body language after @POTUS President Biden, following his long-sought meeting with his counterpart! – called President Xi a dictator it has no price Twelve months of hard work and diplomacy flushed down the toilet with one simple word. WTF,” she wrote on the social media platform, followed by a facepalm emoji.
“Watch Tony Blinken’s body language when Biden says he thinks Xi is a dictator,” NBC News reporter Ginger Gibson pointed out to X. “It’s like you can hear him sucking his breath.”
Christine Duhaime, journalist and financial crime expert, commented: “Blinken’s reaction to Biden calling President Xi a dictator is priceless. You could say he’s like Jesus, no, in the head.
The Chinese were outraged by Biden’s political faux pas after the meeting.
China condemned Biden’s reference at a news conference in Beijing on Thursday, with Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning saying the president’s comment was “extremely wrong” and calling it “manipulation irresponsible politics”, as reported. ABC News.
Blinken was still doing damage control for Biden who said Xi was a dictator in June and will now have to start over. This misstep also drew a scathing response from the Chinese government at the time.
“The US and China have been slowly rebuilding relations since the fallout from former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan in August 2022 and the controversy over the alleged Chinese spy balloon in February,” he said the New York Post.
“Biden did most of the talking positively about the meeting with Xi on Wednesday, telling reporters that the Chinese president agreed to restrict the export of deadly fentanyl-related pill presses and compounds,” the outlet continued.
The summit that was held in San Francisco, filled with Chinese Communist flags on the street to welcome the dictator, also resulted in an agreement between the US and China to resume military-to-military communications. Xi, sensing weakness, warned the president that the US “turning its back” on China “is not an option”.

Blinken knows this is a farce and that Biden doesn’t know what he’s saying, but he has to go if he doesn’t.
