“The Secret Service deployed a counter unmanned aerial system operator on July 13, according to the Secret Service. The drone system was to be operational by 3:00 p.m. that day.” Grassley said. “However, the Secret Service has told us that due to cellular bandwidth issues, it was not operational until 5:20 that day. Rowe added that the Secret Service will now “leverage the resources of the Department of Homeland Security and others to make sure that we have dedicated connectivity, so we're not going to rely on the public domain, so we can ensure that whatever assets we have instead, these assets are operational”.

Recently, the director of the United States Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle resigned following the assassination attempt and his evasion testimony before Congress.

“I take full responsibility for the security failure,” Cheatle said in an email to staff obtained by the Associated Press. “In light of recent events, it is with a heavy heart that I have made the difficult decision to step down as director.”
