Former President Donald Trump expressed that he is “thrilled” with Judge Aileen Cannon's recent decision in the classified documents case.
During a segment on Fox News, hosts Bill Hemmer, Bret Baier and Dana Perino discussed the implications of the ruling and its potential impact on other cases involving Trump.
Bret Baier, sharing his recent conversation with Trump, reported: “We just got off the phone with the former president and he said this: 'I'm delighted that a judge had the courage, the courage and the wisdom to do this.' This has big, big implications, not just for this case, but for other cases.'”
“The special counsel worked with everybody to try to take me down. That's a big, big thing. It just makes this convention more positive. This is going to be an incredible week. He said over and over that this was a great decision. He pointed to Justice Thomas and the questioning at the Supreme Court on this very issue about the special counsel, but seemed to indicate that he thought this would have implications for other cases.” – Bret Baier

Baier continued: “He confirmed that he will make a vice-presidential election today.”
Bill Hemmer asked for clarification on the VP pick being made today: “If he makes his pick today, are we going to hear about it today? Did he answer that?”
Baier confirmed, “Yes, we're going to have a vice president today. And he said there's other things to come. I don't know what that means, but the big reaction was that he's excited, and he really praised Judge Cannon, who said that, from the beginning, she had the attitude that she wasn't going to put up with trash. And she thinks that has big implications for other cases as well.”
Trump's comments highlighted his belief that Judge Cannon's ruling could set a precedent for other legal battles he faces.
He also expressed gratitude for surviving an assassination attempt, stating, “Now, you know, he's praising God that he's here. He's projecting that he's going to try to unify a convention and give a different message than he originally thought he was going to give. He said who tore up the 20-page speech and reworked it, and believes this is the time for the country to come together.”
Dana Perino reflected on the significance of the recent political developments, saying, “It's really incredible. But the election, for a long time, felt a little dreamy, didn't it? We didn't have the primary season we thought we were going to have, and all of a sudden, minute by minute, we're having incredible stories.”
