Former President Donald Trump on Thursday blamed President Joe Biden's guilty verdict in his criminal trial, calling it a “rigged decision” and a deliberate political attack meant to “hurt” his opponent.
Constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley believes the verdict will be overturned in state or federal courts, he told Fox News.
A jury found Trump guilty of all 34 charges.
“This was done by the Biden administration to hurt an opponent, a political opponent, and I think it's just a disgrace,” Trump told reporters after the verdict.
“This was a rigged decision from day one, with an embattled judge who should never have been allowed to try this case, ever,” Trump said.
“We will keep fighting. We will fight until the end and we will win because our country has gone to hell”, he added.
“We are a nation in decline, in serious decline,” Trump continued. “Millions and millions of people coming into our country right now from prisons and mental institutions, terrorists, and they're taking over our country. We have a country that's in big trouble.”
A growing number of Americans see as Trump's criminal trial irrelevant to his suitability for re-election, a recent CNN poll found, and only 13 percent to believe Trump is being treated the same as other “criminal defendants.”
Most Americans doubted Trump's criminal trial would conclude with a just outcome, according to the CNN poll. Only about a third of American adults believed Trump did anything illegal about the case, an AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll found in April.
americans I will see the charges against Trump are less serious as the trial continues, a CNN analyst reported, based on data.
