House GOP Rep. Greg Steube was released from the hospital after the fall

Rep. Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) was released from the hospital Saturday after injuring himself in a fall.

The 44-year-old congressman fell 25 feet from a ladder, according to a statement on Twitter. He was trimming trees around his home in Sarasota, Florida, and was later found by a neighborhood Republican employee doing part-time delivery work.

“Grateful to be home and recovering after being released from the hospital today. All praise and glory to God!” Steube tweeted by way of announcement. “Jen and I continue to be infinitely blessed by the prayers and support of our friends, family and community.”

Steube was initially being treated in the intensive care unit, but was moved Thursday. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy reported that he had spoken with Steube earlier that day and found him to be “in good spirits.”

While he has returned home, it remains to be seen when Steube will return to his Washington, DC office. Steube promised that his office would continue to update him on his eventual return. That injury comes as House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO) called on Democrats last week to address and negotiate “reckless spending.” Steube is one of the GOP members of the committee.

The Iraq War veteran was recently re-elected to his third term in Congress, where he has earned a reputation as a staunch conservative.
