Electors in Missouri's 1st Congressional District handed over sent a clear message Tuesday by denying Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., a third term in office.

Bush, a member of the “Squad” and a vocal critic of US-Israel relations, and a staunch supporter of the “Defund The Police” movement, was defeated in the primary by St. Louis Wesley Bell.

Bell, a more moderate candidate with strong support from pro-Israel groups, emerged victorious after those groups invested heavily in his campaign to unseat Bush because of his controversial stance on Israel.

This defeat marks the second defeat for a member of the ultra-progressive faction following the defeat of Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., to another pro-Israel moderate.

Bush's loss comes amid growing tensions over the US relationship with Israel, highlighted by his comments following the October 7 Hamas attack. Bush had condemned Israel's response, stating, “Israel's collective punishment of Palestinians for the actions of Hamas is a war crime.”

Despite his loss, Bush did not distance himself from his progressive base. Instead, in her concession speech, she got really nervous and called on her supporters to take down AIPAC. I will see:

With Bush out of the race, Bell is now the front-runner for the House seat in the upcoming November election.
