‘Complicit in a major act of conflict escalation’ – Musk denies CNN’s inflammatory allegations of war intervention

Since Elon Musk has seemingly become Donald Trump, in which any lie, spin or gaslighting will serve to further the narrative, no matter how notoriously false, last night the mainstream media they were overwhelmed with justified accusations that Musk meddled in the Ukraine-Russia war to stop a Zelenskyy-driven offensive (which would likely have turned the war on its head and hailed victory parades up and down the streets of Kiev).

Okay, admittedly that last bit was hyperbole; but given a quick read of the CNN and NBC headlines, we could be forgiven for this view.

Elon Musk secretly ordered his engineers to shut down his company’s Starlink satellite communications network near the coast of Crimea last year to disrupt a Ukrainian sneak attack on the Russian naval fleet.according to an adapted excerpt from Walter Isaacson’s new biography of the eccentric billionaire titled “Elon Musk.”

As Ukrainian underwater drones laced with explosives approached the Russian fleet, “they lost connectivity and crawled harmlessly ashore,” Isaacson writes.

NBC led with the following headline: Ukraine is furious with Elon Musk for thwarting an attack on the Russian navy

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has been under fire from Ukraine after he emerged, he thwarted a major attack against him russian navy.

In accordance with excerpts published by CNNa soon-to-be-released biography of the SpaceX CEO claims as much Musk secretly ordered his engineers to shut down his Starlink satellite network over Russian-occupied Crimea last year in order to prevent a Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian naval fleet.

The mainstream media didn’t have to look far to find someone willing to vilify Musk:

Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, attacked the tech billionaire at X, formerly Twitter, which Musk owns.

“Sometimes a mistake is much more than a mistake,” Podolyak wrote.

“By not allowing Ukrainian drones to destroy part of the Russian military fleet (!) via #Starlink interference, @elonmusk allowed that fleet to fire Kalibr missiles at Ukrainian cities,” he added.

“As a result, civilians and children are being killed,” Podolyak said.

“This is the price of a cocktail of ignorance and big ego. However, the question remains: Why are some people so desperate to defend war criminals and their desire to commit murder? And now they realize that they are committing evil and encouraging evil?

Isaacson cites Musk at the time as a question mark “How am I doing in this war?”

“Starlink wasn’t meant to be involved in wars. It was meant for people to be able to watch Netflix and relax and connect at school and do good, peaceful things, not drone strikes.”

A couple of quick questions: How would Musk pre-emptively know about the attack and choose to disable Starlink? Is his intelligence better than Putin’s? better than the CIA?

The twist here is totally mind blowing.

In fact, according to Musk, who responded to the allegations at X, the details are the exact opposite of how CNN described them…

In fact, Musk NEVER activated Starlink in those disputed border areas – precisely for this reason, as he feared that the use of this technology near the borders could lead to an escalation of the war.

In fact, Musk didn’t “shut down Starlink” but refused to “activate Starlink” for the Ukraine offensive.

Whichever makes more sense to you – the world’s richest man unilaterally shutting down internet access to pre-emptively prevent a secret Ukrainian attack on Russia in a Blofeld-esque move? Or the CEO of a major communications company who refuses to allow his technology to be used to escalate a war that could lead to Armageddon?
