FBI Director Christopher Wray was questioned about the bureau’s involvement on January 6.
California Rep. Darrell Issa, a Republican, asked Wray about the number of FBI agents and informants involved in the Capitol riots.
“How many people who were FBI employees or people who had been contacted by the FBI were in and around the capital on January 6?” Issa asked.
“So I really have to be careful here talking about where we have or haven’t used confidential human sources,” Wray replied.
“Was there one or more people, were there one or more people fitting that description on January 6 who were in or around the capital?” Issa pressed.
“I think there’s a filing in one of the January 6th cases that may provide a little more information on that, and I’m happy to see if we can follow up with you,” Wray responded.
“I just want an answer,” Issa said. “Was there one or more? I mean, would you know if there was at least one person who worked for the FBI that went into the capitol that day?
“I can’t, again, I just can’t talk about it here, but I’m glad the court is asking…” Wray repeated.
“It’s been two years and now you’re, now you’re in front of us,” Issa said. “The gentleman asked these questions, he makes all kinds of insinuations and you nod your head yes. And then I ask you simply was there one or more? And you won’t answer that.”
“So I’m going to make the assumption that there was more than one, more than five, more than 10, and you’re avoiding the question because you don’t want to answer the fact that you had at least one,” Issa said. “And somehow he didn’t understand that some of the individuals were very dangerous and that there were others who were inciting people to enter the capitol after others broke windows.”
FBI Director Wray denied allegations that the FBI had a hand in the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021. In response to questions about what the FBI knew before the attack, he called the idea that the FBI had planned or intervened in the violence “ludicrous” and said it undermined the commitment and hard work of its dedicated staff.
Wray further clarified that, as far as he knew, the FBI had no prior knowledge of a specific plan to attack the Capitol. However, he did acknowledge that the agency was aware of a potential threat of violence and had shared intelligence accordingly.
“This idea that somehow the violence at the Capitol on Jan. 6 was part of an operation orchestrated by FBI sources and agents is ridiculous and a disservice to our brave, hardworking men and women and dedicated,” Wray said.
In an interesting addition to Wray’s testimony, he denied under oath that he had any knowledge that Ray Epps is a “Fed.”

Epps was caught on video urging people to enter the Capitol on Jan. 6, but has not been charged for his activities and is constantly defended by Democrats and the legacy media.
According to the NYT, the FBI had as many as eight informants inside the Proud Boys group in the months surrounding the January 6 Capitol riot. This includes a period of time both before and after the event. The former leader of the Tennessee Proud Boys chapter, Matthew Walter, told the Times in February that about 20 members of the group besides him had ties to the FBI at the time.
