Challenger Brian Kilmeade names names after Dems, 'racist' smear media

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade unloaded on critics after a viral video clip purported to call him racist.

Addressing the claims on Thursday's edition of “Fox & Friends,” Kilmeade responded to social media accounts that shared a clip from the show the previous day when he had been discussing Vice President Kamala Harris' decision to attend a “college sorority” event instead of presiding over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech to Congress.

Kilmeade called names as he called out those who defamed him and falsely accused him of saying the word “colored” instead of “college.” In the opening debate, he had criticized Harris, now the presumptive Democratic nominee after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race, for plans to address the “Grand Boule” of historically black Zeta Phi Beta in Indianapolis instead of saluting and listen to Netanyahu.

“He's not going to appear at the joint session of the Prime Minister of Congress today. He'd rather go to a fraternity, a college fraternity like he can't get out of it in the summer,” Kilmeade had said.

But a clip posted by Politico Playbook co-author Eugene Daniels and others claimed the Fox News host had said “of color.” Former Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill and Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison shared the post, also blasting co-host Lawrence Jones for not speaking out. This caused a wave of backlash and criticism. The clip Harrison reacted to was later deleted by the user who posted it.

“Eugene Daniels' now-deleted tweet completely misquoted and unnecessarily defamed Brian Kilmeade, who clearly said college fraternity,” Fox News noted in a statement.

Kilmeade wasn't going to stay quiet after his name was falsely dragged for something he didn't say.

“So this ends up being something big, and it turns out the person who did it is the head of the Washington Correspondents' Association,” he said, referring to Daniels. “And he's a guy from Político who makes playbooks every day. I ended up talking to him at the end of the day, and that conversation remained private. But they walked him back. “

“They corrected it, but it didn't stop for four or five hours,” Kilmeade added. “People like Jamie Harrison, head of the DNC, calling me a clown, making racial accusations against me. My leadership. People all over the country just see the headline and start throwing things, things. They despise me, they despise this company.”

“It's a teachable moment for everybody on the couch, everybody watching,” Kilmeade noted.

He vowed not to “retire” or apologize for criticizing Harris.

“As of now, things have changed … they seek to label anyone, at any time, as racist, sexist, misogynistic. I will not go back on what I say. I think it was a huge mistake for me to go to a frat university instead of the prime minister's address,” he said, “and I'm not going to apologize for that. But people in the media have to be responsible when they report things.”

Conservative journalist and podcast host Megyn Kelly pointed out that Kilmeade has been on the air for decades and “if he was referring to black politicians as a colour, it would have happened before now”.
