Donald Trump may be leading in multiple primary polls for the 2024 election, but according to a recent report from The New York Times, top Republican elites are not supporting his potential run.
The report, which was based on interviews with more than two dozen party officials, donors and strategists, found that many of the GOP’s most influential figures have no interest in backing Trump in the next election cycle.

The report also found that many of the GOP’s top officials are wary of the potential for a Trump candidacy to further divide the party. While Trump’s base of supporters remains loyal, many of the party’s other factions have been alienated by his rhetoric and policies.
