Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-R.C.) doesn't care what language former President Donald Trump uses to describe illegal migrants, as long as we “do it right” at the US border.
During a “Meet the Press” interview Sunday, anchor Kristen Welker practically begged Graham to condemn comments made in New Hampshire about “the need to keep immigrants out of this country.”
WATCH: Sen. @LindseyGrahamSC (RS.C.) says he “could care less” about the language Trump uses to describe migrants as the Biden campaign accuses Trump of imitating Hitler.

“They are poisoning the blood of this country,” Trump said of the swarms of migrants arriving through President Biden's open border. “This is what they have done. … They arrive in our country from Africa, Asia, from all over the world”.
“The Biden campaign has accused former President Trump of, quote, 'parroting Adolph Hitler,'” Welker told Graham before asking for his reaction.
The senator, who has supported Trump, noted that “76 percent of the American people” believe “the border is broken.”
Welker was more concerned with “language.”
After being pressed to focus on the GOP front-runner's words, Graham tried again.
“I'm worried about a result,” he said. “[Trump] had the border secured.”
Addressing the Biden administration, Graham said: “You're talking about language while you sit on the sidelines and allow the country to be invaded; 172 people on the terrorist watch list have come on your watch. The fentanyl is killing more americans…
“Senator,” Welker interrupted. “Only in the language. Only in the language, though.”
To Graham's credit, he seemed genuinely disgusted by Welker's insistence on putting Trump's speech over the substance of his message.
“You know, we're talking about language?” he laughed “I could care less about the language people use as long as we get it right.”
“We have chaos and we must create order,” he said. “If you think you're going to win the debate on illegal immigration by picking one line from Trump's speech, most Americans understand that the game has to change, that we're under threat, that we're going to be attacked, that our border has completely erased, so if you talk about the language that Trump used instead of trying to fix it, it's a losing strategy for the Biden administration.
Welker refused to let it go.
Would Trump “attract more people” if he “chooses different words,” he wondered.
Admitting that he “sometimes disagrees” with the way Trump speaks, Graham stressed that the former president “actually turned himself in at the border.”
“People are looking for results,” he said. “If all you want to talk about immigration is the way Donald Trump talks, you're missing out.”
The host tried a different, even more ridiculous angle.
“Is it the position of the Republican party that African and Asian immigrants are 'poisoning the blood' of the people of this country?” she asked.
“No,” Graham replied with a flat face, “it's the position of the Republican party that we've lost control of the border, that terrorists are coming, that there's never been a greater threat to the United States from a terrorist attack d 'a broken border'.
In another clip, Graham declared, “I've never been more worried about a 9/11 than I am right now.”

He doesn't think a deal will be reached on the border until after the new year.
“We feel like we're being cornered,” Graham said. “We are not close to an agreement.”
“Our border has been erased,” he said, “and we will not give in to any Band-Aid solution.”
As one X user said, “Every once in a while Lindsey Graham states the obvious and makes a good point.”
Every now and then Lindsey Graham states the obvious and makes a good argument.
