Erin Moriarty wasted no time playing the victim when Megyn Kelly called her out for alleged plastic surgery that included a nose job, cheek implants and “Kim Kardashian lips.”
In an indirect way, Moriarty, who plays Starlight/Annie on Prime Video's dark superhero series “The Boys,” declared the allegations “fake news” in a drama-filled Instagram post shared Friday.
“This is something I never really planned to write,” he wrote. “We're all subject to levels of bullying in our lives, but I'm horrified and felt I deserved to take a second to address these things. I had no idea what was going on, honestly, because I've been through a of the most difficult weeks of my life.”
“I thought specifically that as this period of time emerges, I've been so stressed that I've barely been able to eat and sleep,” Moriarty explained. “I thought ok, I'll walk out 10lbs thinner and the verbal abuse/accusations will be swift, usually either drug use or just a flippant 'eat a burger' comment. You learn to become Teflon and move on. I had NO idea what was going on this time.”
Talk about drama, and Moriarty was far from done as he accused Kelly of being a misogynist.
“Receiving a message about a disgustingly false and counterproductive video of Megyn Kelly commenting on the way that is ironically misogynistic – knowing the widespread nature of this has left me horrified,” he continued. “Megyn used a photo taken 'a year ago' according to her, which was actually taken a decade ago, before I was of drinking age (I'm about to turn 30) as an example (maybe research a bit).this would take 30 seconds).
“It's scary how misinformed, inaccurate and click-bait we see from people we follow and consider to be informed.”
After explaining that he was “crying” over the falls, Moriarty concluded: “I saw the comments, scathing enough to turn off my comments. But this is turning into harassment. This is turning into fake news “.
Kelly singled out Moriarty as an example of plastic surgery “addiction” nearly two weeks ago on her podcast, comparing a “relatively recent” photograph of the actress to a more recent image.
“Look, I'm not against plastic surgery,” Kelly said. “This is something else. This is like a mental disorder. This is extreme. When you start out incredibly beautiful and end up like a plastic Barbie version of a Kardashian.”
“I thought it was just an AI-generated face…but apparently it's real,” he said. “She has done this to herself.
“More and more young women are doing this,” Kelly continued. “It's not an objection to plastic surgery, it's an obsession with becoming this fake version of yourself… I find it a sign of mental illness. I really want to get into these young girls' heads and say, “Please don't do this.”
