The Biden administration's rush to push the nation toward a “sustainable” energy future has opened the door to scammers looking to cash in on the Green New Deal gold rush, some of whom will inevitably prey on people big
Fox News' Jesse Watters discusses the case of “shady” solar companies, and this week on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” he spoke with two women whose elderly parents were apparent victims of troubling sales practices. they had allegedly been showered with the snake oil of solar power along with promises that the purchase and installation of the expensive equipment would be virtually free for them.
A worried daughter told the host she believes her 86-year-old mother, who suffers from dementia, was scammed when she was asked to finance $60,000 in solar panels.

“It first started as a sales call where the salesperson from the solar company came in and just talked to her and said, you know, 'we can set you up for solar.' You can get it for practically nothing. You'll be able to get both a state and federal tax credit,” Patsy Brownson, who was one of hundreds of people who texted Watters about potential scams after a Monday segment, told the host.
“And basically, it started as a sales call saying, you know, here's everything we're going to do for you, we're going to install the solar panels and everything's fine, and you know, we're going to make sure everything's fine,” she he said.
“And then basically what happened was in December of 2021, I got a phone call from my mom and she's absolutely panicked, she's crying,” Brownson continued. “Basically, you got a letter from the financing company or the loan company that said, 'Welcome aboard.' You have a loan with us for more than $60,000 for more than 25 years'”.
“My mom says, 'Did I do it?' … How did I do it?'” Brownson recalled, telling Watters that she confronted the loan company about how her mother, who is on a fixed income, could qualify for such a large loan, but told him they could not release that information. .
“Oh, of course not,” Watters said. “They're not allowed to say anything right to you, after they've ripped off your family,” telling her to stay in touch with the show's producers so they can be kept up to date on the situation, while encouraging viewers to continue texting because “we're going to rain hell on these solar panel companies.”
“It's a big scam,” he added. “They are preying on elderly people, poor people with dementia. It has to be stopped and Joe Biden is funding it.”
“We recognize that selecting a solar provider is an important decision for families, and we strive to ensure that all customers are fully informed and comfortable before purchasing our products. This situation was no different. The customer's son was present with her during the initial consultation, procurement process and installation. We have worked with the family and look forward to engaging them again to find the best way forward for our customers,” an ADT spokesperson Solar, formerly known as SunPro, he said Fox News Digital.
