A black, female U.S. Navy veteran is behind bars after she allegedly tried to set fire to Dr. Martin Luther King's birthplace in Atlanta.

“This action saved an important part of American history tonight,” said Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum. Channel 2 action news.
Another Utah tourist, Zach Kempf, recorded Henderson calling the police.
“What are you doing?” he can be heard asking Henderson. When she tried to wave him over, he said, “No, that's gas.”
“It was a little scary there for a minute because we didn't know who it was,” Kempf told Channel 2. “We didn't know if she had any weapons on her or anything.”
“He grabbed a lighter and started walking back up the stairs,” she recalled. “So I stood on the stairs and said you can't do this and blocked her.”
That's when New York's finest stepped in.
“There's no reason for it and it would be gone,” said Kenneth Dodson, one of the NYPD officers. “So, you know, for the blessing that we were there.”
If good Samaritans hadn't been there to stop Henderson, Atlanta Fire Department Battalion Chief Jerry DeBerry said, the iconic civil rights leader's hometown might have been lost.
“It could have been a matter of seconds before the house was engulfed in flames,” DeBerry told Channel 2.
On Saturday, Henderson, who was arrested and charged with criminal attempted arson and criminal attempt to interfere with government property, appeared before a Fulton County judge who denied a possible arsonist bond .
“The judge said during the bail hearing that he did not believe he could grant him bail because of his unstable place of residence and the seriousness of the crime he is accused of,” Channel 2 added. reports.
According to the station, Henderson could face more federal charges since “the historic site is now a museum operated by the National Park Service.”
She is currently being held in the Fulton County Jail.
While no motive has been revealed, in X, many are wondering why the attempt to destroy a site honoring Dr. Martin Luther King hasn't made bigger headlines.
