Gavin Newsom wears many hats: radical progressive, ideologue, and out-of-touch elitist, just to name a few. While his government leaves a lot to be desired, one thing it is not is foolishness. Newsom might align himself with World Economic Forum-style globalism, but he’s sly and calculating, in a very disturbing “serial killer” way. But let’s face it, it’s very likely that he’ll face President Trump in the general election once the Democrats figure out how to sideline Biden. That makes Newsom’s sharp recent analysis of the GOP debate and the entire primary field all the more disturbing and accurate.
When asked about his thoughts on the GOP debate, Newsom’s response was blunt and lacked the typical political banter you’d expect from someone as radical as him. He played it brilliantly and revealed his skills as a seasoned politician who knows when to wear different hats and feign a more moderate stance. He’s working the hall, preparing for the biggest battle of his life, probably hoping that the mail-in ballots are already being printed as we speak.

He nailed it. But why didn’t he just lie and fire Trump, like any other regular Democratic governor would do when put in the position? That’s because Newsom is adapting his approach. Like a snake shedding its skin, it is emerging with a seemingly new persona, one that seems calmer, less aggressive, and more honest. It’s all a game, but Newsom is really good. It didn’t just focus on Trump; also shared thoughts on Ron DeSantis in anticipation of his upcoming debate on Fox News.
When asked why he was participating in the debate, Newsom said the question was not why DeSantis would do it but “why does he do it.”
“The fact that he took this debate, the fact that he took the bait in relation to this debate, shows that he is completely unqualified to be president of the United States,” Newsom said. He then asked, “Why debate a guy who isn’t even running for president when he’s running for president?”
Newsom criticized Team DeSantis’ decision to share an ad promoting his debate with Newsom, not his presidential campaign, on his X (formerly Twitter) account shortly after the debate was announced Monday.
“This guy is distracted, so I don’t know that he has it in his heart,” Newsom said. “Here’s my personal opinion on Ron DeSantis: He regrets running for president. He made a huge mistake. He listened to his consultants, he bought his own hype, he had this little God complex… He bought all these things, and he regretted it quickly, but it’s stuck.”
These remarks reveal that Newsom is preparing for something big. It is not simply in “primary” mode. One could argue that, like Trump, he is already looking toward the general election. He is meticulously sizing up his competition and planning ahead. Unlike many left-wing extremists, Gavin fully understands the monumental challenges he faces. He recognizes that Trump is at the forefront of the biggest political movement the country has ever seen, and Newsom knows that if it comes down to it, he’ll have to pull out every dirty trick in the book to compete.
