Wheel bearings are not a government conspiracy.

It’s worse than the government admits, but not nearly as bad as people here seem to think.

This is something called “pollution”, and we used to have real problems with it. This is nothing compared to what we once considered “normal”. Up until the early 70’s, we had worse stuff coming out of factory chimneys and pouring into our rivers across the rust belt 7 days a week.

I grew up in one of those manufacturing towns then. When I was a kid, we only used the clothesline on Sundays because on other days what was in the air (nobody ever told us what chemicals were in it!) would stain our clothes a yellowish shade and weaken the fibers.

If you spent a lot of time outside, you might feel a greasy film on your hands if you rubbed your fingers. It was airborne dirt, containing who knows what toxic chemicals.

Things are so much, so much better now that whenever people have a little reminder of how things used to be, they act like the sky is falling.
