Voters See Through 'National Gas Lighting Campaign'

A new poll showing the vice president edging out former president Donald Trump prompted a campaign outcry about the “Fake News Media” putting “a finger on the scales…”.

According to CBS News/YouGov poll conducted with 3,102 registered voters from July 30 to August. In the 2nd, Vice President Kamala Harris had a narrow lead over the GOP frontrunner within a 2-point margin of error of 50-49 percent. However, Trump's team was quick to denounce those findings, accusing pollsters of over-sampling leftists to tip the scales in the Democrat's favor.

“The fake news media continues to help the dangerously liberal Kamala hide her record of economic failure and soft-on-crime policies,” Brian Hughes, a senior Trump campaign adviser, said in a statement reported by Newsweek. “Now, as this analysis shows, they will even put a finger on the polling scale to inflate the results for her.”

“This analysis is why the American people are watching and will not allow this national gaslighting campaign to win,” he continued. “Despite this rigged result, CBS/YouGov is worth noting that in July and August 2020, their data showed Biden leading by 10 nationally, reflecting a net positive move of nearly +10 to President Trump this election cycle”.

The results showed a positive 2-point gain for the vice president compared to the last poll that was conducted before President Joe Biden ended his own campaign. It also showed Harris and Trump locked in battleground states while admitting, “The poll over-sampled black respondents.”

The results showed 81 percent of black voters favored Harris to 18 percent for Trump, compared to 73 percent who supported Biden in July.

An even closer look at the data showed other advantages for Trump beyond the “gaslighting” he highlighted: “Record performance for a Republican, ME, with Hispanics!” based on YouGov data, showed him winning 44%, 7 points behind Harris compared to massive double-digit leads for previous Democratic presidential candidates.

Additionally, Fox News host Laura Ingraham pointed to public opinion on how voters felt they would be economically fair based on who won on November 5, with 45% of respondents sure they would be better off with the policies of Trump compared to just 25% under Harris.

If the vice president were to insure his own administration, 44% of survey participants believed they would be worse off financially.

“This is how Trump wins,” Ingraham said. “If you vote for him, you will have more money in your pocket. If Harris wins, you'll be poorer. Point!”

Moreover, with Harris' positions considered even further to the left of the incumbent, after the honeymoon period in which the corporate media avoided delving beyond the talking points, voters are likely to recognize that changing the leader of the ticket would not improve the state of the union. in which 68% of respondents believed the country was performing “somewhat” or “very poorly”.

Similarly, 66 percent said the economy was “fairly bad” or “very bad” right now, and 41 percent of respondents said the main reason they would choose Harris was to oppose Donald Trump. While 34% said they liked it and 24% voted blue, regardless of who presented the ticket.

Reactions to the polling data reflected the take on the Trump campaign, with some even suggesting that Harris had peaked.
