Voters in left-leaning swing state tell MSNBC they 'don't like' process of Harris becoming de facto nominee

Progressive voters in Wisconsin voiced their disapproval of the process that led Vice President Kamala Harris to become the de facto Democratic nominee during a “Morning Joe” segment that aired Thursday.

President Joe Biden Abandoned of Sunday's presidential race and endorsed Harris, who is running on an internal party vote with virtually no approval from primary voters, assuring enough support from Democratic delegates to become the party's presumptive nominee early Tuesday. Voters told the NBC political analyst Elise Jordan they're not fond of how the selection process went, but they still plan to cast ballots for the vice president in the November election.

I WILL SEE:

“Well, it would have been good if he made that decision a year ago because we could have had a primary and maybe decide who we want to replace him instead of rallying around Kamala Harris,” said one male voter.

“I think trying to clear the field and make sure it would be Biden and … not allow us to have a real democratic primary process, I'm not saying I think Kamala Harris is going to lose, but I do think she would have benefited us significantly if she I would have noticed much earlier, so there would have been more time to have an internal debate, to have internal democracy within the party,” said another male voter.

Jordan then asked voters about their perception and level of enthusiasm for Harris, and received mixed reactions from the panel.

“I don't feel like I know much about her. And I agree that I wish Biden had made this decision sooner, but now that we are where we are, I think this is the best option for the party,” he said another male voter, adding that he feels “hopeful” when Jordan asked if he felt “more turned on.”

“I feel turned on. I don't like the process either. All of this, we started the conversation as if there were people behind closed doors and curtains making the decisions for us, and it's supposed to be a process,” said one voter. “We're supposed to be a part of it. So I don't like that part at first. That being said, she's the vice president and we're late in the game and so we would have elected her into office by electing Biden and by so much. She would have been president if something had happened. I think she's been in office for four years, but he knows her. She knows who the players are.”

Harry Enten, CNN Senior Data Reporter warned on Tuesday that it will be “difficult” for Harris to defeat Trump because of the surge in popularity he received after the Republican National Convention and surviving an assassination attempt.

A separate panel with Female Trump voters in Wisconsin expressed doubts about Harris' intelligence and competence during a segment that aired on “Morning Joe” on Wednesday.

One voter said: “I don't have a good feeling about her,” while a voter named Mary said: “I think she's an idiot.”

Former President Bill Clinton, Counselor Doug Schoen said Tuesday that also has problems with the process.

“I have issues with the process that was put in place to fast-track his nomination. No mini primaries, no open convention,” Schoen said. “Basically, the deal was done in 48 hours. I have a problem with that.”
