Victim of illegal immigrant criminal kept out of prison by Harris program, now Trump supporter

A victim of a criminal illegal immigrant who was kept out of prison by a program created by Vice President Kamala Harris says the incident opened her eyes and is now a supporter of former President Donald Trump's agenda Trump, according to ABC News.

Amanda Kiefer stayed with a fractured skull in 2008, when Alexander Izaguirre, an illegal immigrant from Honduras, took her purse and got into a car that then tried to run her over. Izaguirre had been arrested on drug charges before the attack, but stayed out of jail after being selected for an employment program set up by Harris, then the San Francisco district attorney.

Kiefer, now 45, says his politics changed after the violent attack, seconds in an interview with ABC News.

“When a policy affects you negatively, you wake up,” Keifer told ABC News. She told the press that she was a self-proclaimed liberal before the attack, but now supports Trump's policies.

While serving as San Francisco's top prosecutor from 2004 to 2011, Harris spearheaded an initiative called “Back on Track.” seconds to a 2009 Los Angeles Times article. The program was intended to help felons expunge their convictions by placing them in a work program instead of serving time in prison, but Harris didn't know his office was enrolling illegal immigrants in the program until 2008 attack on Kiefer.

Harris called the placement of illegal immigrants in “Back on Track” a “defect” and pledged at the time to stop enrolling them in the program, according to the LA Times. He also said he did not know how many illegal immigrants were ultimately placed in the program.

“If people who committed crimes could stay out of prison to train for jobs that they legally couldn't do, I think most Americans would disapprove of that,” Kiefer told ABC News.

Kiefer has donated numerous times to Republican causes since 2020, according to ABC News. He also said it was “laughable” for Harris to call herself a tough prosecutor against a convicted felon.

From President Joe Biden announced her withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, Harris has established herself as the presumptive Democratic nominee, drawing a sharper focus on your immigration record.

A spokesman for the Harris campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
