‘Very disloyal’: Trump scolds Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley amid 2024 speculation

FUS President Donald Trump criticized two potential rivals in the 2024 GOP race for the White House as he traveled to New Hampshire and South Carolina to drum up support for his 2024 campaign.

The former president told reporters aboard his plane Saturday that DeSantis would not have been governor if Trump had not endorsed him ahead of Florida’s 2018 gubernatorial election, according to CNN.

“So when I hear that he might run, I find that very disloyal,” Trump said.

Saturday’s comment wasn’t the first time Trump has criticized DeSantis, as he previously called the Florida governor “DeSanctimonious” during a weekend rally ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. DeSantis has yet to announce whether he will run for president in 2024, although rumors about his candidacy remain strong.

Another possible GOP candidate for the 2024 presidential election that Trump discussed was Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina and Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations. The former president revealed that Haley had called him recently to say she is considering a possible run in 2024, with Trump responding that he “should.”

“I talked to her for a while and I said, ‘Look, you know, go with your heart if you want to run,'” Trump said. “She has said publicly that ‘I would never run against my president, he was a great president.’

Haley revealed in an interview in mid-January that she believes “I can be that leader” when discussing the possibility of a 2024 run, but asked viewers to “stay tuned.”

Aside from Trump, the only other Republican candidate who has announced his candidacy for the 2024 election is West Virginia businessman Rollan Roberts II. President Joe Biden has not yet announced whether he will seek re-election, but is expected to make an announcement in the coming weeks.
