CNN's Van Jones warned Wednesday that Vice President Kamala Harris avoiding interviews is not sustainable for her presidential campaign.
Harris hasn't sat down for a single interview since launching it campaign after President Joe Biden Abandoned and endorsed it on July 21. Jones, on “CNN News Central,” defended Harris not doing interviews until now, but said he would eventually have to do them because it's an essential duty of a presidential candidate.

“I think they've played it smart. It's hard for people to remember, he's been running for president for two weeks, literally two weeks,” Jones said. “And so he had to do many things in these two weeks, he had to get the base of his party. He had to get the actual nomination. He had to choose a vice president. So I'm not mad that I'm not doing 15 interviews a day, but it can't last. It is very important. And we can't make favorites. Anyone running for top office needs to be as available as possible.”
Former President Donald Trump he said Popular online streamer Adin Ross during an interview on Monday that Harris avoids interviews because of his inability to answer difficult questions.
“She can't talk to people. She can't answer questions,” Trump said. “He hasn't done an interview … he's not doing an interview because if he did an interview where he's asked a tough question, he's incapable of answering it.”
“You become the president of all the people, so I think you have an obligation to do that,” he added. “Now, she's not doing anything. She's not doing any interviews because I don't think she's capable.”
However, on Friday, Democratic strategist Julie Roginsky he said CNN anchor Kate Bolduan says Harris shouldn't face backlash for not avoiding interviews, as she will spend hundreds of millions of dollars on ads to portray the image she wants.
“She's going to spend her $300 million defining herself on TV and social media however she wants, right?” Roginsky continued. “And she will eventually sit down with you, I think. But the bottom line is that's not what she should be going after. She should be going after her on positions that affect the regular people who are voting. If you're standing there saying, “Well, you're not sitting down for an interview,” the average person doesn't have time to sit around worrying about what Kamala Harris is doing, they just want to make sure she's doing something to help them .”
