During an FBI sting Wednesday morning, a Utah man was fatally shot, according to ABC News. The raid was carried out in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged targeted threats President Joe Biden and others, according to the report.
The dead suspect is identified as Craig Deleeuw Robertson.
The investigation began in April, and the US Secret Service was notified by the FBI in June. In addition to the online threats, Robertson indicated online that he was preparing to take physical action against the president and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Authorities found those threats to be “credible,” the official said.
On August 7 Robertson allegedly wrote on social media; “Heard Biden is coming to Utah. Take out my Ghillie suit and dust off the M24 sniper rifle.
Below are some of the threats published by the Daily Mail.
According to the Salt Lake City FBI, the shooting happened at approximately 6:15 a.m. local time. The incident occurred while special agents were attempting to execute arrest and search warrants at a residence located in Provo.
The agency wrote in a statement: “The FBI takes seriously all shooting incidents involving our agents or task force members. In accordance with FBI policy, the the FBI is reviewing the shooting incident. Because this is an ongoing matter, we have no further details to provide.”
