US Conducts Nuclear Test in Nevada Hours After Russia Revokes Global Test Ban

-

The Biden regime conducted a “high-explosive” nuclear test in Nevada on Wednesday for the first time in over 30 years, hours after Russia revoked its ban on atomic-weapons testing.

The Department of Energy, which oversees America’s stockpile of over 5,000 nuclear weapons, claimed the test used chemicals and radioisotopes to “validate new predictive explosion models” to help detect atomic blasts in other countries.

“These experiments advance our efforts to develop new technology in support of U.S. nuclear nonproliferation goals,” Corey Hinderstein, Deputy Administrator for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation at the National Nuclear Security Administration, said in a statement.

“They will help reduce global nuclear threats by improving the detection of underground nuclear explosive tests,” he added.

The last time the U.S. conducted a nuclear test on its own soil was on September 23, 1992 at the Nevada Test Site. The test, called Divider, was a subcritical experiment designed to validate computer models of nuclear weapons performance.

The timing and geopolitical implications of the Biden regime’s nuclear test has experts worried it could be misinterpreted by the Russians and lead to further escalation.

From Bloomberg:

Analysts fret that actions like this week’s test by the National Nuclear Security Administration could be misinterpreted and lead to further escalation, especially given the deep animosity between the US and Russia that’s been exacerbated by the war in Ukraine.

“Over the next few days the Kremlin may say the Americans are doing tests and we have no way of verifying these tests aren’t nuclear,” said Pavel Podvig, who tracks Russian nuclear forces for the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research in Geneva. “That would be another step.”

The timing behind Biden regime’s nuclear test is also remarkable given Russia recently announced it will revoke its ratification of the 1996 Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, which seeks to ban all nuclear weapons worldwide.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov on Friday said Russia was closely monitoring the nuclear test in Nevada.

“Earlier, the Federation Council [of the Federal Assembly of Russia] stated that the underground tests on October 18 in Nevada should be given an international legal assessment, since the United States is a signatory to the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) and is obliged to refrain from violating this agreement,” he said.

Ryabkov had also said last week that Moscow will continue to respect the ban and will only resume nuclear tests if the U.S. government does so first.

And now the U.S. has.

Warnings of a pointed response by Russia over America’s nuclear test appear to have been validated.

Russia has reportedly responded by placing an intercontinental ballistic missile on a launch pad in the Orenburg region on Friday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was also seen in Beijing this week accompanied by officers carrying the so-called nuclear briefcase that can be used to order a nuclear strike.

On a related note, imagine the media response if a nuclear test been conducted during President Donald Trump’s term considering they along with Democrats for years had warned he would start World War III.

But since the nuclear test was conducted on Joe Biden’s watch, this geopolitically significant event barely received any news coverage.
