Gaza's health ministry, run by Hamas, reported that the Israeli operation, aimed at rescuing four hostages, killed 274 Palestinians and left hundreds more injured. The ministry did not distinguish between civilian and militant casualties, but noted that the death toll included several minors. However, these figures remain unverified.
Sullivan expressed that the US supports a negotiated settlement for the release of the hostages. He further stated that the current proposal presented by Israel, which is awaiting a response from Hamas, is the most effective and reliable method to ensure the release of the hostages.
