Taking questions from the Great “Woke” North led to UFC President Dana White shaming a reporter for a “ridiculous” challenge to the First Amendment.
South African-born Dricus du Plessis could have become his nation's first champion after his UFC 297 bout against former middleweight Sean Strickland on Saturday, but the liberal display of free speech of the latter before the match left him the focus of discussion.
At least that was the case when a reporter questioned White in the wake of the title fight at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto that was decided by a split decision.
Speaking to the press after the Canadian men had gone 0-7 on the night in front of their home crowd, a reporter who embodied the spirit of the left challenged the UFC president not to hold back the fighters' comments.
“Obviously, you give your fighters a long leash about, you know, what they can say when they're up there with a UFC microphone, and you're getting into the territory of homophobia, transphobia, as it were. ..” the man said earlier. White said. “I don't give a leash to anyone.”
“I don't tell any other human being what to say, what to think, and there's no leash on any of them,” he continued, asking the reporter for the suggestion. “What is your question?”
Stepping forward, the man replied, “I was asking that question. I'll continue, though.”

“Yes. Probably a good idea. It's ridiculous to say I'm giving somebody a leash,” added White, who wasn't ready to drop the subject. “Free speech, bro. People can say what they want and believe what they want.”
The challenge arose from a difficult few days for easily triggered reporters, spurred by a self-identified “ally” of the LGBTQ community questioning Strickland about a 2021 tweet in which the fighter had said he would think he had “failed as a man” if he had once raised a gay son.
When the post was published, Strickland downloaded Canada's acceptance of woke ideologies and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's response to the Freedom Convey against mandatory COVID shots: “Well, then you're a weak man. You're part of the shit problem.”
“You elected Justin Trudeau. When he took over the bank accounts, like f * * it's pathetic,” the fighter continued. “The fact that you don't have a fucking spine and while he shut down your fucking country and confiscated bank accounts, you ask me stupid shit like that. Go fuck yourself. Fuck the man. You coward” .
Later referring to people like the reporter as “an infection” for supporting transgenderism and teaching other Marxist nonsense to children, Strickland's exercise of free speech didn't end there.
At another press event, Strickland doubled down, adding: “I'm not going after the Chinese Nike brand. I don't care about that. I care about you. I care about you being free. I care about you being free to 'expression!'

In widespread support for White's response to the reporter after Saturday night's fracas were a number of comments suggesting the member of the media had shown a projection without “an ounce of self-awareness”.
