(LifeSiteNews) — President Donald Trump criticized Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party for their animosity toward Catholics.
The former president made the comments about his alleged opponent during a speech Friday at a Turning Point USA event.
“As everyone here understands, the radical leftist ideology that Kamala supports is truly hostile to Americans of faith,” Trump said Friday. “And you saw that during the pandemic where people couldn't gather even when they wanted to gather with large outdoor spaces. They were devastated.”
The former president and 2024 Republican candidate made the comments at the Turning Point Summit of Believers.
“As a senator, she viciously attacked highly qualified judicial nominees simply because they were members of the Knights of Columbus, suggesting that their Catholic faith disqualified them from serving on the federal bench,” Trump said, referring to his nominee Brian Buescher.
As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Harris, along with Senator Mazie Hirono of Hawaii, questioned Buescher about his membership in the Knights of Columbus.
she he called the group's opposition to same-sex “marriage” is an “extreme” position and questioned Buescher for being part of the Catholic group that opposes abortion, as LifeSiteNews has previously informed.

Trump then asked how a Catholic could vote for Democrats.
“I don't know how a Catholic can vote for Democrats because they go after Catholics almost as much as they go after me,” Trump said. “I'd say I beat you, I'm proud to admit it, but they're really after the Catholics.”

The Biden-Harris administration has a history of persecuting Catholics and other Christians. Under the administration, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has aggressively and selectively enforced the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE Act), including peaceful pro-life Catholic fathers like Mark Houck, like LifeSiteNews. reported.
Under the Biden-Harris administration, Latino Catholics attending mass have also been labeled as “extremists” and spied on by the FBI, and citizens who oppose racial identity politics and sexual ideology in the classroom have been compared to domestic terrorists by the DOJ.

Trump also criticized Harris' support for the LGBT agenda, including leaving “men in women's and girls' locker rooms.”
Trump also said he will cut federal funding to schools that push “critical race theory, transgender bigotry, and other inappropriate racial, sexual, or political content into the lives of our children.”
A clip of these comments was shared by Elon Musk. “Save our children,” Musk wrote on X (formerly Twitter), quoting the crowd's chant.

“And I will not give one dime to any school that has a vaccine mandate or a mask mandate, not one dime,” the president said.
“And I'll keep men out of women's sports.”
Harris's anti-Catholic record is alarming
Harris' record on religious freedom and life has drawn concern and harsh criticism from Catholic and pro-life leaders. LifeSiteNews recently spoke with several leaders who warned about a possible Harris presidency.
“Unless he does a complete 180 on his position, which means losing the loyalty of his radical pro-abortion base, true Catholics who defend the sanctity of all human life have a vested interest in voting against her if she becomes the Democratic nominee,” said Reagan Barklage, National Field Director for Life of America Students he said LifeSiteNews last week.
“Harris has a record of a willingness to persecute pro-lifers and anyone who opposes LGBT ideologies,” warned Michael Hichborn of the Lepanto Institute. “Carrying his agenda to its logical conclusion, Harris's America would eliminate not only religious freedom, but all freedom, turning citizens into automatons to do the bidding of the state.”
Brian Burch, president of CatholicVote, has also criticized Harris' record, citing his opposition to Buescher, the federal judge.
“This is not only a gross form of anti-religious bigotry, it is also unconstitutional,” Burch said. said last week. “Harris' version of being Catholic is a Catholic who gives up his core beliefs.”
