A recent development in the court proceedings involving former President Donald Trump has raised concerns about possible irregularities in jury deliberations. New York Judge Juan Merchan recently issued a notice to both the Manhattan District Attorney's office and Trump's legal team over a post on the New York court system's Facebook page.

The post, attributed to a user named “Michael Anderson,” claimed it was from the cousin of a juror who allegedly had insider knowledge of Trump's conviction on 34 felony charges. The comment, published at the same time as the verdict was announced, expressed gratitude to those involved in the case for their efforts.

Judge Merchan noted that “Michael Anderson's” comment was a response to a routine notice from the Unified Judicial System (UCS), dated May 29, 2024, regarding oral arguments in the Fourth Department of the Appellate Division. lations, which was not related to the ongoing process. procedures

Although the UCS notice was published a day before the verdict was handed down, the timing of the publication of “Michael Anderson” in relation to the verdict remains unspecified in Merchan's order. It was only mentioned that the post was labeled as “one week old”.
The authenticity of the family connection between “Michael Anderson” and the juror mentioned in the post has not been confirmed. However, if the publication does indeed indicate prior knowledge of the jury's decision, it could serve as a major sticking point as Trump's legal team challenges the verdict on appeal.
