U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland has appointed Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss as special counsel in the Department of Justice’s ongoing investigation into President Joe Biden’s son and alleged business partner, Hunter Biden . Weiss has already been overseeing the DOJ’s investigation into Hunter Biden’s business dealings since 2019.
The DOJ order elevating Weiss to special counsel will allow him to “… conduct the ongoing investigation described above, as well as any matters arising from that investigation or that may arise…”, as well as “. . . to prosecute federal crimes in any federal judicial district in which they occur. of the investigation of such matters.” Attorney General Garland told members of the press that Weiss informed him that “…in his judgment, his investigation has reached a stage where he should continue his work as special counsel and requested be so named.”
House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), shattered Attorney General Garland appointed Weiss as special counsel, stating:
This is part of the DOJ’s efforts to attempt a Biden family cover-up in light of our Committee’s mounting evidence of President Joe Biden’s role in his family’s schemes to sell “the brand” for millions of dollars to foreign citizens
The Department of Justice’s misconduct and politicization in the criminal investigation of Biden already allowed the statute of limitations to run on the serious crimes committed by Hunter Biden. Justice Department officials refused to pursue evidence that might have led to Joe Biden, briefed Biden’s transition team and Hunter Biden’s lawyers about the planned interviews and searches, and attempted to place stealthily Hunter Biden on the way to a declaration of love agreement.
Let’s be clear about what today’s movement is really about. Biden’s Department of Justice is trying to curb congressional oversight because we have presented evidence to the American people about the corruption of the Biden family.
Recently, Weiss and the DOJ came under intense scrutiny from U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika for what critics argued was a declaration of love settlement for President Biden’s son Hunter, a crack cocaine addict suspected of abusing the public trust along with his father to enrich himself. themselves and other members of the Biden family. Judge Noreika rejected the proposed language and after an attempt to renegotiate the deal failed, Hunter Biden pleaded “not guilty” in federal district court.
In addition to the declaration of love agreement, Weiss has also drawn criticism for her closeness to allies of President Biden and his son Hunter Biden. Alexander Mackler, a longtime friend and associate of Hunter Biden, worked as a prosecutor under Weiss in the U.S. Attorney’s office in Delaware during the early stages of the Biden investigation. In texts between the two, Mackler often referred to Hunter Biden as “friend” or “brother.”
