Trump has lost “multiple steps,” not as “mentally sharp” as he was in 2016

-

Prominent conservative commentator Megyn Kelly believes former President Donald Trump, 77, is no longer on his A-game.

Speaking Friday with fellow right-wing commentator Glenn Beck about the fourth GOP presidential primary debate he moderated, he said the Trump of 2023 is not the same Trump he saw years ago in 2015 and 2016.

“There is no question that Trump has missed a step or several steps,” he said. “He's confusing Joe Biden [Barack] obama I know now he says he did it on purpose, [but] go back and watch the clips. It wasn't intentional.”

“The reference to how someone is going to get us into World War II, confusing countries, confusing cities where they are, and it's happening more and more,” he added.

Listen:

In fact, this Biden/Obama mix-up has happened several times.

“Former President Donald Trump mixed up two of his political foes, President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama, on Saturday for at least the seventh time in recent months, the latest in a string of gaffes by the 77-year-old former president years. made him the target of a line of attack routinely used against the 80-year-old president.” Forbes reported in early November.

That said, the former president and his supporters claim he purposely says “Obama” instead of “Biden” to emphasize his belief that former President Barack Obama is pulling the strings in the White House, not current President Joe Biden.

Continuing his remarks, Kelly emphasized that despite Trump's superhuman ways, he is ultimately a mortal, an old man.

“That's what happens when you're 77. Trump looks inhuman, but he's not inhuman. He's a human. He's a man,” she said.

“DeSantis' line about 'Father Time spares no one' was good. So, look, if it's between Trump and Biden, I don't think there's any question about who's fitter and more capable. But really, “Are we going to pretend that Donald Trump is as vibrant and mentally sharp as he was in '16,” she continued.

Trump didn't seem to appreciate her criticism. In a Truth Social post published shortly after midnight on Friday evening, Saturday morning, she claimed that she was the “the biggest loser” of the fourth GOP presidential primary debate.

“The biggest loser was Megyn Kelly, what the hell happened to her? She's lost what she once had, which wasn't much. Some things never change!” He wrote

The irony is that Beck made the exact opposite point the morning after the debate.

“I think the real winner last night out of all of them was Megyn Kelly,” he said. “She was very, very good. … She was the winner. She held everybody's feet to the fire. She asked tough questions. She was fair. She told people, 'Shut up, nobody can hear you' when they were talking between them and that was it. I mean, I thought she was really, really good.”

In an additional post, Trump took an indirect jab at Kelly, writing: “I never confused Crooked Joe Biden with Barack Obama, except in the form of a sarcastic joke, which Fake News knows and fully understands. Sarcasm is a very dangerous for me!!!”

Supporters of the former president have also been on the attack, criticizing Kelly at X for his “stupid” remarks.
