Timing and talent combined on Monday, as the GOP front-runner scored two big wins that are sure to stoke excitement heading into the Republican National Convention. While commenting on the news that Judge Aileen Cannon had dismissed his documents case, Trump revealed that he would announce his vice presidential nominee after keeping it secret until Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

“I'm delighted that a judge had the courage and wisdom to do this,” Fox News anchor Bret Baier quoted the president as saying after a phone call with the presumptive nominee. “This has big, big implications, not just for this case, but for other cases. The special counsel worked with everybody to try to take me down. That's a big, big deal. It just makes this convention more positive . This is going to be an amazing week.”

How it had been reportedCannon's 93-page ruling stated that the appointment of special counsel Jack Smith had violated the Constitution and wrote: “The superseding indictment is dismissed because the appointment of special counsel Smith violates the appointments of the Constitution of the United States”.

On Truth Social, Trump expanded on his reaction, stating, “As we move forward to Unite our nation after the horrific events of Saturday, this dismissal of the lawless impeachment in Florida should be only the first step, followed by quickly for the dismissal of ALL witch hunts: the January 6 hoax in Washington, DC, the Manhattan DA's zombie case, the NY AG scam, false claims about a woman that I never met (a decades-old online photo of her husband doesn't count) and Georgia's “perfect” phone call charges.”

“The Democratic Department of Justice coordinated ALL of these political attacks, which are an election interference conspiracy against Joe Biden's political opponent, ME,” the GOP leader added. “Let's unite to end all weaponization of our justice system and make America great again!”

Additionally, Trump confirmed to Baier that his running mate would not only be decided today, but announced as considerable attention was paid to a heavy security presence outside the home of Ohio Sen. JD Vance .

Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum noted on X: “Sen. JD Vance leaves home on Motorcade Forbes reports,” and while others chimed in on the increased likelihood, Utah Sen. Mike Lee shared a video from the outlet with the comment: “JD Vance leaves. his house in a trailer… This doesn't happen every day… I suspect that tells us something,” before the publication

Lee went on to write, “I have colleagues who are on full-time security details. He's not one of them. I guess I should say 'he hasn't been one of them so far.'”

While it remains to be seen what Trump's official announcement will be, Baier added that the president had teased, “Bret, there are other surprises to come.”
