Trump asks the US to wipe Iran “off the face of the Earth” if it is killed

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday called on the United States to destroy Iran if it was ever assassinated.

US authorities reportedly knew of an alleged Iranian plan to kill Trump before the assassination attempt that took place at his rally, but there is no known connection between the plot and the attempt. trump published to Truth Social that it's “always a possibility” that Iran will assassinate him, and if that happens, he expects the US to obliterate the country in response.

“If they 'kill President Trump,' which is always a possibility, I hope the United States will wipe Iran out, wipe it off the face of the Earth; if that doesn't happen, American leaders will be called cowards” without guts.” the former president posted.

Trump also released a short clip from Wednesday of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speech before a joint session of the US Congress where he said Iran “blatantly threatened to assassinate President Trump.” Netanyahu talked about how important an enemy Iran has been to the United States for decades, including holding American hostages, committing acts of terrorism and sending “squadrons of the dead here to assassinate a former secretary of state and a former national security adviser.”

twenty years Thomas Michael Crooks attempted to assassinate Trump on July 13, firing several shots at Trump and the crowd at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, killing former volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore and injuring two bystanders.

Iran has been open about seeking revenge against Trump and members of his administration for the death of Qasem Soleimani, a prominent Iranian figure and former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, whom the US killed in a 2020 drone strike.

Andrew McCabe, former deputy director of the FBI, recently said this informed knowledge of the alleged Iran plot makes Crooks' assassination attempt “all the more egregious.”
