Residents of Oakland, California, loudly objected to proposed amendments during a city council meeting Monday that would have condemned Hamas.
The Oakland City Council unanimously passed a resolution Monday night calling for a ceasefire and humanitarian aid, The Associated Press reported. Israel accepted it extend the ceasefire with the radical Islamic terrorist group two days after multiple groups of hostages were released since friday
“There have been no beheadings of babies or rapes,” one resident said during the meeting in a video clip. published to X by Huffington Post writer Yashar Ali. “Israel murdered its own people on October 7th!”
Amendments to Condemn Hamas for Taking Hostages During Deadly Terrorist Oct. 7 attack in several locations in southern Israel that killed more than 1,400 people were defeated by a 6-2 vote, according to the AP.
“The idea that it was a massacre of Jews is a fabricated narrative,” said another resident. “Many of those killed on October 7, including children, were killed by the IDF [Israeli Defense Forces].”

“To label Hamas a terrorist organization is ridiculous, racist and plays into the genocidal propaganda that is flooding our media and that we should be doing everything we can to combat,” another resident said.
“I support the right of Palestinians to resist the occupation, even through Hamas, the armed wing of the unified Palestinian resistance,” said a third resident.
Another resident said calling for the radical Islamic terror group to be condemned was “very racist anti-Arab”.
Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and other left-wing members of the House of Representatives known as “The Squad” were released statements calling for a ceasefire almost immediately after Israel began its response to Hamas terror attacks on 7 October.
“If there was a town hall meeting where the right-wing said anything remotely as bad, stupid, wrong, and indefensible as this, every major media outlet would be running it constantly and every Republican politician would be asked to condemn it,” Jonah Goldberg. published about X. “Even if you think I’m wrong, most conservatives will agree with me in whole or in part. Refusal to condemn this kind of rubbish is a poison pill for the centre-left.”
