Top Hamas leader killed by Israeli airstrike in Iran's capital [VIDEOS]

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh went missing while in Tehran to attend the inauguration of Iran's new president, Iran's Revolutionary Guard and Hamas confirmed.

Haniyeh, 62, had risen to the position of Hamas political chief and had long been a prime target of Israel for retaliation in connection with the October 7 massacre that claimed 1,200 lives.

Iranian media reports reveal that Haniyeh, along with his bodyguard, were fatally wounded at a residence in Tehran where they were staying during the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday.

This deadly incident unfolded less than 24 hours after an Israeli military strike resulted in the disappearance of a key Hezbollah figure in Lebanon, marking another violent episode that raises concerns of a potential escalation into a wider conflict in the Middle East.
