TikTok presenters and historical figures top job searches

This year, the most sought-after jobs aren't the traditional roles of doctors, teachers, or veterinarians, but rather unique positions like TikTok hosts and historical figures at theme parks. That's according to recent research that analyzed more than 900,000 job ads since January, calculating popularity based on the number of views each post received.

Data management officer positions topped the list as the most sought-after roles. However, TikTok's presenter roles also sparked significant interest, reflecting a shift in how brands are adapting to reach audiences and sell products in the digital age.

The research also revealed a growing desire among job seekers to make a meaningful difference in their work. Roles such as emergency call handlers and social sustainability positions were high on the wish list, indicating that potential employees are looking for more than just a paycheck in 2024.

Lee Biggins, the workplace executive who conducted the research, pointed to changing trends in job preferences. He said: “British people are also keen to make a difference, with emergency call handlers and social sustainability roles also on the wish list, showing that jobseekers are looking for more than money in 2024.”

Biggins also offered advice to employers looking to attract potential candidates. Creating a fun and supportive work environment and having a clear company mission, he suggested, will help companies pass the test of popularity with job seekers.

This research underscores the evolving nature of the job market, with unconventional roles gaining popularity and job seekers prioritizing meaningful work over monetary compensation.
