The World Economic Forum will meet next week with representatives of the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca to prepare for “Disease X,” a hypothetical unknown threat that will require the mass deployment of new vaccines.
A panel of international speakers will gather for the conference, titled “Preparing for Disease X,” which develops a war strategy surrounding the outbreak of a virus 20 times deadlier than COVID.
The WHO is concerned about the potential for an “unknown pathogen that could cause a serious international epidemic” that is “currently not known to cause human disease”.
Last year, the BBC reported that the UK government had already opened a research center to prepare for a “disease X” outbreak.
